Stearyl Alcohol
Stearyl AlcoholBarrier
18-carbon fatty alcohol. Firmer texture than cetyl; common in body butters and rich creams.
What it does
Stearyl alcohol is the 18-carbon partner to cetyl alcohol in the cetearyl alcohol blend. As a stand-alone it produces a firmer, more cushioning skin feel and stabilizes thicker cream and butter formulations. Often used in body care, hand creams, and rich moisturizers. Same naming-confusion warning as the cetyl family.
