Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate

Yeast fermentation filtrate. SK-II's 'Pitera' is the most famous version of this ingredient family.

What it does

Saccharomyces ferment filtrate is the clarified liquid left after a Saccharomyces yeast culture has finished fermenting. It contributes amino acids, vitamins, and small organic acids that act as humectants and mild exfoliants. SK-II's Pitera is a specific proprietary version. Galactomyces ferment filtrate (already in the encyclopedia) is in the same family. Generally well tolerated; users with active yeast-acne flares should patch-test.
